Who are we?
Hello everyone! Ola! We are the Nation family. An international family who enjoys living a "semi-nomadic" lifestyle while working remotely. Our home base is Portugal and we love living there! We have been based in Portugal for 2 years now and this is where our daughter Nora was born. But for a part of the year, we jet set across the globe to visit new exciting destinations and visiting our friends and family spread through out the world.
Our Back Story:
Eric started his nomad journey back in late 2016 during the "golden age" of the "digital nomad" lifestyle. During 2017 he traveled across 12 countries in 12 months with 50 strangers on a travel program called Remote Year. It was a life altering year that changed the trajectory for Eric's life path moving forward. He fell in love with living abroad and experiencing different cultures, food, experiences, meeting like minded nomads.
Chasing waves and never ending summers, his travels eventually led him to spend a summer in Amsterdam. This is where he met his now wife, Josien. Josien had been living her own nomad dream in Bali. She cam home to visit her family in the Netherlands for a couple months and decided to hop on a dating app. The connected and the rest is history.
They traveled together over the coming year until the pandemic stopped them in their tracks in Mexico. This is where they came to really love Mexico.... the food, the culture, the people, and the small surf town of Puerto Escondido. They loved it so much this is where they got married!
After 6 months of honeymoon travel and wondering around South America, they made the decision to make a home base in Portugal where they could grow their family. Portugal checks all the boxes for us! And it's close to Josien's family in the Netherlands.
What are we doing here?
We've been debating dipping our toes into the content creation world for awhile now. Eric makes travel and motorcycle videos for fun on his own personal YouTube channel . We enjoy helping and inspiring others to travel the world! We hope through our content and videos, we can show others that you don't have to be rich to travel the world. You can do it while working. You can do it if you have a young baby. It's possible, you just have to take action!
Being in an international marriage and living in a country that is neither one of your home countries comes with it's own set of challenges and struggles. Our hope is that by sharing our story and experiences, maybe others can also benefit from our learnings.

But if that's not your vibe, Josien will be posting more short form stuff on our Insta and TikTok.
Our goal is to post 1 Youtube per week.
We'll be posting videos our travels to each country and how to get there. Tips about traveling with a baby. Videos on remote working in each destination and which co-working spaces are the best. Family friendly activities and things to be aware of while with a baby in each location.
